The Harry Dowling Award is now open for nominations to recognise individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to regional tourism in South Australia. The Harry Dowling Award is in honour of the former Mayor of Moonta, Harry Dowling, who was one of the early pioneers in regional tourism. The award is sponsored by the Department of Environment and Water.

Yorke Peninsula Tourism Manager Deb Clarke said “The prestigious Harry Dowling Award was created in 1983 to recognise excellence in regional tourism and was previously part of the South Australian Tourism Awards.”

“The award is now presented as part of the Yorke Peninsula Tourism Awards” said Ms Clarke.

“It is important to acknowledge and celebrate the contribution made to regional tourism in South Australia and the Harry Dowling Award provides a wonderful opportunity to nominate someone from your local community or region who has made a difference to tourism in South Australia.”

Craig Costello, Chair of Yorke Peninsula Tourism says “The Harry Dowling Award is the perfect opportunity to recognise the hard work and dedication of a South Australian for their ongoing support and commitment to the tourism industry. Featuring as part of the Yorke Peninsula Tourism Awards, if you know a member of the South Australian community who is deserving of this prestigious award I would like to encourage you to put in a nomination so their hard work and dedication to tourism can be acknowledged.”

To be eligible, nominees must be involved (past or present) with a recognised regional tourism body and have significantly contributed to regional tourism.
