Hawaii Tourism produced the paint, pallet and brushes for a unique get together for travel agents and trade media to celebrate May as “the month of Lei”

Invitees donned smocks and necessary equipment to produce a Hawaiian masterpiece.

The paintathon at the Cork and Chroma in Sydney’s Surry Hills revealed some emerging artists as the teacher guided her class to create an idyllic Hawaiian watercolour of a palm tree beside the seaside.

Hawaiian visitation is sky high but the Tourism Department wants visitors to stay longer and visit all the islands.

Representatives from the visitor bureaux of Maui, O‘ahu, Kaua‘i and the Island of Hawai‘i joined Hawai‘i Tourism Oceania for the celebrations.

Hawai‘i Tourism Oceania will also partner with Helloworld, Viva Holidays and Excite Holidays to launch marketing campaigns, activations and incentives during the    Month of Lei’ activities.

Giselle Radulovic, Country Manager of Australia for Hawai‘i Tourism Oceania said ‘Month of Lei’ is the tourism board’s way of engaging both trade partners and consumers with the spirit of Aloha.

“Each year in May, Hawai‘i Tourism Oceania brings the spirit of Aloha to Australia by inviting key media, trade and partners to celebrate the occasion with representatives from the Hawaiian Islands.

“The month is a significant event for Hawai‘i Tourism Oceania, as the Hawaiian Lei is the physical embodiment of the spirit of Aloha symbolising kindness, altruism and generosity,” Ms Radulovic said.
