From 1st November, the promotion designed to encourage Queenslanders to pack up the family, jump in the car and take a drive to discover the magic and diversity of the Capricorn Coast and Rockhampton on the Southern Great Barrier Reef (just over 7 hours drive north of Brisbane), is back!

Within weeks of Capricorn Enterprise launching a user-generated landmark campaign in March, the COVID roller coaster rapidly moved from an emerging crisis into a global emergency, locking down the world, restricting travel and forcing alteration in marketing direction.

As the tourism industry decelerated and many local businesses closed their doors temporarily, the decision was made to pause the campaign until the tone was right to go back ‘on air’.

Following the great success of their post COVID ‘Support Local Recovery’ Campaign, Capricorn Enterprise is thrilled to have the opportunity to re-launch the first phase of their ‘Hello from the Capricorn Coast” campaign this weekend, encouraging our neighbours to explore untouched reef and islands of the Southern Great Barrier Reef, endless stretches of white sandy beaches, and the natural landscapes of our national parks and forests. Phase two will incorporate the Rockhampton region, with spectacular views from the Fitzroy River, Mount Archer and more.

The multi-media campaign, which includes a television commercial showcasing images and videos of UNREAL holidays by REAL holiday makers, will be accompanied by social media and online advertising and target regions throughout Central Queensland, Wide Bay and Sunshine Coast.

“Using images sourced from real Instagram accounts, the campaign is filled with authentic content from actual holiday makers to our destination,” Capricorn Enterprise CEO, Mary Carroll said. “Although the global health crisis has forced the face of travel to change, families are more than ready to get back to their holiday planning and recommence their adventures.”

“The coming months are the perfect time to immerse yourself in the laid-back beauty of the Capricorn Coast and the nearby city vibe of Rockhampton, and there is plenty of space to stay six feet away from other holiday makers,” Mary said. “With loads of family-friendly activities on offer without the hustle and bustle of crowds, we invite you to come, stay and play in our backyard.”

Many local tourism operators including accommodation providers, restaurants, tours and experiences from right across the Capricorn region (including Mount Morgan and Central Highlands) have jumped onboard the campaign to provide special holiday deals to complement this exciting campaign – https://www.visitcapricorn.com.au/deals/holiday-deals.

There are so many great reasons to holiday here so stay tuned and find out as we say ‘Hello from the Capricorn Coast and Rockhampton!’
