Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) and the Labour Department today jointly launched the eighth Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) Career Expo 2019 (the Expo), a three-day event at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Expo offers over 4,000 job openings at more than 40 companies across the airport community.

Frank Chan, Secretary for Transport and Housing, and Fred Lam, Chief Executive Officer of the AA, officiated at the opening ceremony today.

Mr Chan said that Hong Kong as a leading international aviation hub, the HKIA has been offering abundant job opportunities for people of various professions to excel.  With the development of “Airport City”, there is a strong demand for manpower in the aviation industry and hence the career prospect would be more promising.

He encouraged interested job-seekers to learn more about the immense potential of Hong Kong as an international aviation hub and actively consider joining the aviation industry.

Mr Lam said, “HKIA is a big family of more than 73,000 airport staff, all of whom work tirelessly and wholeheartedly. I hope those who are enthusiastic and passionate about the aviation industry can find their job here and become a member of the airport community, working hand in hand with us to build the ‘Airport City’ together.”

Mr Lam added, “To encourage more people to launch their careers at the airport, we have been working to provide a better working environment for airport staff. For example, we have established the Airport Preschool, increased staff facilities, improved public transport services and more. We are also building a new airport community centre, where airport staff will be able to enjoy various types of leisure facilities – including a sports hall, gym room, staff canteen and more – when it is commissioned.”

The Expo provides a wide range of job openings at HKIA in areas such as inflight services, aircraft maintenance, airfreight, airport security, baggage delivery, retail, technical services, mechanical engineering, information technology, construction and catering.

In addition to on-site interviews, a number of companies will host career talks for job seekers and members of public.

The AA is also hosting an exhibition during the Expo showcasing HKIA’s transformation into an Airport City, featuring projects such as Terminal 1 expansion, SKYCITY and smart airport initiatives.

Information about the Expo is available on its dedicated website, http://www.hkairportjobs.com.
