The easing of Covid-safe regulations in the United States has allowed the major international beach resort operator Outrigger to re-open its beachfront property in Waikiki to visitors from mainland states, raising hopes that Australian visitors may shortly be able to return to one of the country’s favourite beachfront holiday destinations.

Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort welcomed three small groups of guests who flew into Honolulu on October 15, the first official day  after new quarantine testing allowed hotels to open up to Mainlanders.

Sydney-based, Asia Pacific VP of sales and marketing, Andrew Gee said that the relaxed regulations could be adopted and considered by other countries, noting that although the Australian international border is closed until 17 December 2020, he anticipates strong numbers of returnee visitors at some stage in 2021.

Arrived from Las Vegas, NV, Adrian previously lived in Lanikai – they are here to reconnect with friends who live on the island.

He added, “We are hopeful that these changes might be adopted in Australia and New Zealand in the near future allowing for Oceania visitors to enjoy the beautiful Hawaiian Islands again”.

Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort has been fortunate to remain open during the pandemic and took advantage of low occupancy to apply minor refurbishments and implement its Outrigger’s Clean Commitment, which is used across all Outrigger properties. In anticipation of an increase in arrivals, Outrigger is set to re-open its lifestyle hotel Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger on November 1, 2020 and has plans for a new-look Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort to open its doors early 2021.
