International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) has set the global benchmark for safety with the venue attaining certification to the Safety Management System Standard ISO 45001:2018.

ICC Sydney has set a new industry standard when it comes to the safety of their employees, customers, contractors and guests.

Overseen by the International Organisation for Standardization (ISO), the certification is a global standard for the management systems of occupational health and safety with the purpose to proactively reduce injury and ill-health in the work place. The standard was developed by a committee of occupational health and safety experts and is based on a number of international labour standards.

ASM Global (Asia Pacific) Group Director of Convention Centres and CEO of ICC Sydney, Geoff Donaghy said the safety and wellbeing of every single person who walks through the venue’s doors is its number one priority.

“People are at the very heart of what we do and their safety is of the utmost importance to us. With over 1.5 million people on site annually, it is paramount that we commit to providing the safest possible environment for all who visit.

“We believe we’re the first convention centre in the world to receive the certification to this international standard and we are proud of the safety systems our team has implemented and we encourage other venues to join us in meeting these standards,” Donaghy said.

In addition to ISO 45001, ICC Sydney is also certified to ISO14001 for Environmental Management, ISO9001 for Quality Management and ISO22000 for Food Safety Management.
