Aon plc a leading global professional services firm providing a broad range of risk, retirement, and health solutions, has today announced that IHG® (InterContinental Hotels Group), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, has been recognised globally as an Aon Global Best Employer.

This is the third consecutive year in which IHG has achieved Global Best Employer status, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to employee engagement and excellence in the workplace. More than 125,000 IHG colleagues participated in the survey, and with an overall engagement score of almost 90%, results stand at 11% above Aon’s top quartile benchmark. In addition to being globally recognised, IHG has been accredited as a Best Employer within 37 countries, including the US, China and Germany

Michael Burke, CEO of Talent for Aon, said:
“I am pleased that IHG has achieved Global Best Employer status for the third year running. This recognition underscores the key strengths that led to IHG’s success last year, which included excellence in the workplace, alongside the consistent delivery of strong, sustainable business results. We congratulate the team at IHG for achieving and maintaining such high standards.”

Ranjay Radhakrishnan, Chief Human Resources Officer, IHG, said:
“IHG is defined by the more than 400,000 people who work in our hotels and corporate offices and it’s only by listening to these colleagues that we can continue to deliver our purpose of providing True Hospitality for the millions of guests we welcome each year. Achieving Aon’s Best Employer accreditation and recognition for our approach to diversity and inclusion shows that we’re creating an environment where people feel like they really belong and can deliver their best work.”

With almost 20 years of experience in best employer studies across the world and backed by more than 40 years of experience in employee research, the Aon Best Employers programme compares organisations, in order to identify those that strive to create a competitive advantage through their people and become employers of choice.

To achieve recognition through the Aon Best Employers programme IHG was assessed on four measures:

1. Engagement Index: employees speak positively about their employer, intend to stay and are motivated by their employment experience to do their best work every day.

2. Agility Index: employees see that the organisation is highly adaptive, innovative, inclusive and responsive to the changing needs of its customers.

3. Engaging Leadership Index: leaders are deeply connected with employees to drive engagement, communicate a clear vision and exert strong personal values.

4. Talent Focus Index: employees feel that the organisation is highly focused on attracting and retaining talent and accelerating people’s potential to the extraordinary.
