As an online travel agent service provider with second largest market cap rooted in China, Ctrip serves all global travelers. At the same time, Ctrip is continuously fulfilling and taking on board more social responsibility. With the aim of becoming an “excellent corporate citizen of the world”, Ctrip continues such values.

Since the very beginning, Ctrip has been growing with the community, the travel industry in China, the nation and the world.  Now, Ctrip sees providing for the needs of people in other parts of the world through charity efforts as an important way to promote the transformation and development of the travel industry, to promote the harmonious development between enterprises and society and to build positive relationships with the world.

In China, Ctrip has carried out charity work for more than a decade. From protecting the environment to running volunteering teams and programs, Ctrip planted over a million trees to improve the environmental situation and through Ctrip programs, encourage travelers to reduce carbon emission and go green.  Ctrip has also supported and donated to numerous schools across China such as building “Hope Primary Schools” in Sichuan, Guangxi, Shandong, Yunnan and more. Ctrip also established scholarship programs for many universities. Ctrip created an employee volunteer program, “Caring Trip” to encourage employees to engage in volunteer work and provide care for people in need.

Since 2018, Ctrip has directed charity efforts overseas. Under the leadership of Jane Sun, the CEO of Ctrip Group, the team travelled extensively throughout the Middle East to understand the medical and health conditions faced by the local children and the strong demand for support and basic facilities in these areas.  The team also paid attention to food shortage problems faced by the children in Sierra Leone in West Africa. In the past year, Ctrip speedily organized resources and provided materials and construction assistance to the above-mentioned areas. These includes donating prostheses to disabled children, building schools and hospitals, providing food aid and other support which will ensure that basic needs are met and their living conditions are improved.

In 2019, Ctrip’s charity efforts continue. On April 24 in Beijing, Ctrip held a donation ceremony for the ongoing charity work in the Middle East and West Africa. This is both a reflection of the summary and review of the results of Ctrip’s international public welfare work over the past year.

Jane Sun, CEO of Ctrip said, “It is imperative that we give back to the community. Through first-hand research into the situation in the Middle East and West Africa, Ctrip is able to provide assistance to those in need. As a global citizen and in keeping with our CSR philosophy, we are always there for them. We strive to be known as an excellent corporate citizen in the world.”
