InterContinental Sydney is proud to announce two new appointments to the team at Sydney’s
most iconic luxury hotel.

Timothy Smith has been appointed to the role of Hotel Manager and Max Babajev to the role of Bar & Lounge Manager – The Cortile.

On the new appointments, Jennifer Brown, General Manager, InterContinental Sydney says, “We are so pleased to welcome our new appointments, both of whom bring a strong skillset and proven history in their areas of expertise, making each a valuable asset to our team.”

Timothy Smith, Hotel Manager

Timothy has almost 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, having previously held roles with Starwood Hotels and Resorts and more recently as Executive Assistant Manager at The Westin Sydney.

Timothy’s role will see him guide the strategic vision for InterContinental Sydney, heading up more than 300 hotel team members, with the support of his team of six operational leaders.

Max Babajev, Bar & Lounge Manager – The CortileMax has more than 10 years of hospitality industry experience, managing bars and restaurants in both the UK and Australia. He most recently held the role of Restaurant Manager for the Rockpool Dining Group. It was here that
Max created two signature cocktails – the Tim Tam Margarita for Australia Day and the Popcorn Margarita for National Margarita day for the El Camino brand.

In his new role at InterContinental Sydney, Max will lead food and beverage operations in the lounge bar at heart of the hotel, The Cortile – creating incredible culinary experiences for guests.

Smith and Babajev have both commenced their roles at InterContinental Sydney.
