INTERNATIONAL Rail’s innovative global booking system International Transfer has just reached a milestone of 10,000 bookings, since its launch 18 months ago. The response from agents has been overwhelming and significantly stronger than we ever could have expected in our first year of operation said managing director Jonathan Hume.

He added, “Figures for 2019 so far will see us reach double the volumes booked in 2018. We discovered a need in the market and we filled it.  Agents were consistently telling us that transfers were frustrating to book and often proved to be terribly unreliable.

“Our pick up rate is also very impressive with over 98 percent of transfers successful, and the ones that were not, were found to be mostly caused by major flight delays or passengers not being contactable on the ground”

Over time the company has focussed on educating agents on how to maximise their success rates with transfers. Hume said the main advice we give is to include a working mobile phone number where possible so that drivers and passengers can communicate in the event of delays. Agents should also try to upsell clients to higher end global operators such as Blacklane, whose reliable rates are pretty much 100 percent

The main feedback received from agents is that the system is super simple to use and caters for a broad range of pick up points including railway stations, cruise terminals and most importantly private addresses, along with hotels and airports. Agents have also been very pleased with the global coverage where transfers can be found in all sorts of obscure places.

International Transfer is partnered with Mozio Inc USA and is fully supported by International Rail in Australia giving agents the security and back up of a local partner if needed.

The company has further expanded its transfer division to provide charters and transfers for large groups travelling domestically and overseas, which is proving especially popular for school groups and conferences.
