The latest annual IPS figures released today showed a 4% growth in international visitors to London from 19.1m in 2016 to 19.8m in 2017. Spending by international visitors was also up 14% year on year to a record £13.5 billion.

The positive growth was helped by an increase in visits from North America, which grew by 11% to 3.1m in 2017.

Commenting on the figures, Tracy Halliwell, Director of Tourism at London & Partners, the Mayor’s official promotional agency for London, said: “

“It is fantastic news that London has seen an increase in international visitors for the 8th consecutive year. It’s a testament to London’s enduring appeal that visitors continue to be drawn to our fantastic city to experience our ever-evolving cultural institutions, world class restaurants, shopping and plentiful green spaces. We look forward to continuing to welcome the world and show that London Is Open.”
