Influential New York post-punk trio Interpol will return to Sydney after seven years to make their Sydney Opera House debut in the Concert Hall this January. Performing their affecting sixth album, Marauder alongside revered hits, the enduring alternative rockers will bring to the stage their irreplaceable sound now intertwined with a revitalised sonic spirit.

Responsible for ushering in the widely celebrated American rock revival at the turn of the century alongside Opera House alumni The National, TV on the Radio, Grizzly Bear and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Interpol’s dark and melancholic sound cemented them as radical global superstars with the release of 2002’s highly-acclaimed, seminal debut Turn On The Bright Lights. Released during the post-9/11 malaise, the album became a cultural anthem during this period of deep uncertainty and catapulted the band into the mainstream.

While the band’s 20-year career trajectory is well-documented, it is their latest record, Marauder that has re-established Interpol in the indie-rock sphere with an incredible vigour capturing the attention of new fans. Produced by Flaming Lips’ Dave Fridmann, their latest offering finally sets the past apart. “Brimming with energy and self-assurance” (Independent UK), the trio confidently sheds comparisons to their beloved debut. Taking on a punchy new sound matched by their signature menacing tones, Daniel Kessler, Paul Banks, and Sam Fogarino reaffirms their status as post-punk heavyweights.

Now, following the critically celebrated 15th Anniversary tour of Turn On The Bright Lights, don’t miss the indie-rock trailblazers’ return-to-form in a powerful rock performance for one night only in the inimitable Concert Hall.
