Intrepid Travel is touring Japan this week with Channel Seven’s Sunrise program. The week long broadcast will see the weather presented from various locations across Japan, one of Intrepid’s hottest destinations. The leaders in adventure travel are also offering 10 per cent off all Japan trips for a limited time.

“We are thrilled to be hosting Sam Mac and the Sunrise weather team across Japan this week – beaming audiences across Australia into one of our hottest destinations,” Intrepid Travel

Regional Director Asia Pacific Brett Mitchell said.

Intrepid have seen a 44 per cent increase in Australians departing for Japan in 2019 compared to the same time last year. The latest from the Australian Bureau of Statistics also found Japan recorded a 17 per cent increase in visitation from Australians in 2017, meaning it’s now our

seventeenth most popular international destination.

“With so much to see and do, Japan is popular amongst every type of traveller including families, solo travellers, foodies and those looking for an active adventure. Our local tour leaders

ensure that travellers have an immersive experience exploring a mix of popular and off-the-beaten track locations,” added Brett.

Brett shared four of Intrepid’s most popular trips that Sunrise viewers will get a taste of this week between 5.30am and 9am on Channel Seven.

Southern Japan Experience

On this 12-day trip, travellers explore south west of Osaka where they’ll experience the contrast between modern and traditional Japan. They will join locals hiking trails to hidden temples, be awed by some of the country’s most impressive castles and soak in Dogo Onsen – one of Japan’s oldest hot spring baths.

Prices start from $4969* per adult in a twin-share room.

Cycle Japan

For the active traveller, cycling Japan is a popular way to experience Japan’s history and culture from temples, shrines to the buzz of Tokyo. This 11-day trip includes a mix of bikes and Japan’s famous high-speed trains. Travellers will work up an appetite for feasts of sushi, unagi, tempura, traditional sake and Sapporo beer.

Prices start from $5325* per adult in a twin-share room.

Japan Family Holiday

Families who want a Japanese adventure with the comfort of a local tour leader and the company of other families will love this 12-day holiday. Kids and adults alike will learn about an age-old style of calligraphy, feast on sushi and Japanese pancakes, sleep on a traditional tatami and explore the country’s temples and forests.

Prices start from $5210* per adult and $4689* per child both in twin-share rooms.

Japan: Hike, Bike and Kayak

A true outdoor adventure in Japan, this trip includes walking through ancient post towns along the famous Nakasendo trail, cycling alongside the Kamo River in Kyoto and kayaking the bays of Ise Shima. Travellers will take in the Kumano Kodo, one of only two UNESCO listed pilgrimage trails in the world. In Kyoto, the group will experience a Buddhist vegetarian lunch inside the Daitokuji Temple.
