Last month Newrybar Merchants launched their latest creative initiative – Newrybar Merchants Pop-Up Artists. The hallway and counter space have been reimagined into a rotating gallery that will exhibit one artist every 1-2 months, with genres ranging from original paintings to photography, prints and fine art.

This week ‘Pop-Up Artist’ Liana McCluskey, will be installing her photographic exhibition with an opening night at Newrybar Merchants this Friday 7th September from 5pm – 6.30pm.

Based in Northern NSW, McCluskey’s works are a mixture of tiny art prints and oversized photographs that through interesting composition and texture, highlight the beauty found in ‘common’ Australian landscapes. Her use of slow shutter speeds capture the grace of the ocean in a way not often achieved with static imagery.

McCluskey is passionate about interior spaces and enjoys exploring neutral tones and textures with her camera in hand. The self taught artist says she moved towards landscape and macro photography during a challenging time in her personal world.

“Paring things back and focusing on the natural beauty in every moment was the perfect remedy,” she said.
Passionate about the environment and our exchange with the natural world, McCluskey donates 10% of profits to support environmental projects that protect native landscapes and oceans.

Liana McCluskey’s work will exhibit at Newrybar Merchants from Wednesday 5th September until Wednesday 31st October 2018.
