What’s happening?

Two Jägermeister bars will be located within Night Mass, in a new space curated by Sydney party purveyors Soft Centre.

Connected visually, but serving different purposes – one for larger numbers, and the other for a smaller, more intimate experience – both spaces have been inspired by the shanty town of Golden Gai in Shinjuku, Japan: a labyrinth-like hotspot of nightlife and architecture, where cramped bars are connected via a series of narrow alleyways.

Harnessing an aesthetic of organised chaos the spaces’ walls and ceilings will be plastered with layers upon layers of photocopied posters featuring a singular image.

In the centre of the room, a mirror ball will revolve endlessly around a beam that casts the core Jägermeister colour of green, with both bars featuring subtle but eye-catching image of the neon stag (downstairs) and laser cut gold mirror Perspex seal (upstairs).

What you can expect to find

SHOHEI FUJIMOTO: A Japanese media artist who explores perception and space through the minimal and precise use of controlled light from laser projectors, working with the sensations repetitive visual patterns can induce. He has been exhibited domestically and internationally at pioneering events.

NORRIS: ‘Norris’ is a vintage dishwasher fitted with a smoke machine, lights and a PA system which can be connected to via Bluetooth, meaning that anyone can DJ. Bringing a chaotic and trashy vibe to offset the careful curation of the space, Norris will be everybody’s best friend by the end of the night.

Reason for Jägermeister x Dark Mofo collaboration

Dark Mofo is the perfect environment to bring to life Jägermeister dark and mysterious side. To celebrate the night, and embrace ones individuality… It also the perfect climate to enjoy Jägermeister how it should be: Ice Cold.

Jägermeister has always had it’s roots in the uber experimental and innovative city of Berlin – being only an hour outside – and this festival really captures this essence of collaboration and community – especially Night Mass – so it felt right from the off.

The area that soft centre have curated is a feast for the senses they’ve captured that Berlin vibe, it’s pretty much Berlin brought to Hobart.
