New Caledonia Tourism is pleased to announce Jean-Gabriel Favreau has been appointed President of New Caledonia Tourism.

Taking over the reins from Brieuc Frogier, Jean-Gabriel Favreau is an elected member of New Caledonia’s Southern Province government body. Sitting on the Budget, Finance and Heritage Commission and an administrator of PromoSud, an organisation that supports the tourism industry and its businesses in New Caledonia, Jean-Gabriel Favreau looks forward to further developing the destination’s tourism offering during what has been a difficult and uncertain time.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way in which we travel and even think about travel, and it’s more important than ever that the tourism industry is responsive and able to adapt swiftly,” said Jean-Gabriel Favreau, President of New Caledonia Tourism. “Globally, we have seen the tourism industry come together in solidarity during these difficult times. Here in New Caledonia, New Caledonia Tourism will support the local industry as best it can, to both promote domestic tourism and prepare for the reopening of international visitation.”

Jean-Gabriel Favreau’s appointment follows the promotion of Julie Laronde to General Manager of New Caledonia Tourism in April, 2020. The organisational changes at New Caledonia Tourism come after six years of growth in international visitation and a record year of visitation in 2019, with more than 130,000 tourists and 344,000 cruise passengers welcomed to the South Pacific archipelago.
