New low fares will go on sale this week as Jetstar Asia launches its new direct, five-hour, service from Singapore to Hefei, in mainland China.

From 28 November, Jetstar Asia will operate three services a week to Hefei, in the ancient province of Anhui, using the Airbus A320.

Hefei, located in mid-east China, is the capital of the province and a popular destination for travellers seeking access to natural attractions including Mount Huangshan, Jiuhua Mountain, Tianzhu Mountain, Chaohu, Fengyang and Shouxian.

The Anhui province is also critical to many business travellers as it’s home to a number of manufacturers including traditional rice wine, rice paper, medicinal herbs, tea and ink used in calligraphy as well as a number of manufacturing plants from engineering, electronics, iron and steel to agriculture machinery.

With a population of more than 8 million, Hefei is an important transportation hub with highspeed rails, expressways, airports and inland waterway transport.

Jetstar Asia CEO, Bara Pasupathi, said that the mix of old attractions and new industry in Hefei would appeal to a wide pool of leisure and business travellers.

“As the only Singapore-based airline flying direct to Hefei Xinqiao International Airport, we are proud to be giving travellers a greater choice of destinations in China enabling them to maximise their experience there,” said Mr Pasupathi.

“The new charter service is in partnership with Shanghai Xihao Aviation Service, and helps us fulfil our vision of helping more people travel to more places and further builds on Jetstar’s commitment and presence in the important Chinese market,” said Mr Pasupathi.

Chairman, General Manager, Mr Pan Huan Ying of Shanghai Xihao Aviation Service said the collaboration with Jetstar on the Hefei – Singapore route was a milestone in the company’s development.

“This partnership demonstrates our commitment in following and supporting the Belt and Road Initiative of China,” Mr Pan.

“The new route will not only enable the citizens of Hefei to travel to Singapore more conveniently, but also enhance the city as an international aviation hub. In addition, it is going to encourage more economic, cultural and tourism exchange between Singapore and Anhui.” The Jetstar Group of airlines offers more than 80 return flights a week into seven Chinese cities, including Shanghai, Haikou and Guangzhou from Singapore, Vietnam, Japan and Australia.
