Montville House: a luxuriously appointed stand-alone guesthouse.

Spicers Clovelly Estate in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland has launched Montville House, a luxuriously appointed stand-alone guesthouse, reflecting Clovelly Estate’s signature French provincial style.

Located in 22 acres of lush, landscaped grounds, Montville House offers six self-contained suites, each with its own distinctive character, and a marble-tiled ensuite including a freestanding limestone bath.

Montville House celebrates natural textures and materials, timber and cool white stone in bright, airy spaces with generous natural light. French doors open onto lush gardens, the interior is adorned with sophisticated floral prints, and restrained earthy and neutral colours reflecting the leafy surrounds.

Available for individual stays or for private group booking, Montville House adds to Spicers Clovelly’s existing 10 suites in the main guest house and the three-bedroom French Cottage.

Bed-and-breakfast rates for a suite in Montville House start from $589 per night per room, including a la carte breakfast for two at The Long Apron. Two-night minimum stays apply for weekends.

Floating Sauna Lake Derby: seats up to 10 people.

A new generation is discovering the age-old rituals of the Finnish sauna — with a Tasmanian twist.

Find that hygge feeling in what is thought to be Australia’s only floating wood-fired sauna, Floating Sauna Lake Derby.

This traditional sauna offers visitors the chance to relax and connect with nature, and take a cold plunge directly off the pontoon into the fresh water of Briseis Hole, also known as Lake Derby.

Located in the mountain-biking town of Derby and designed by Tasmanian architect Jason Licht, the sauna seats up to 10 people in either public or private sessions, and is said to help mountain bikers recover quickly from a day’s ride.

WA’s wildflowers: one of the greatest flower shows on Earth.

Australians are being encouraged to get out and explore one of the greatest flower shows on Earth, with Western Australia’s 2020 wildflower season underway.

A selection of guided and non-guided tours are available across the state, in line with seasonal blooming periods — which started in the Pilbara and is continuing into the Mid-West, Gascoyne, Goldfields and Wheatbelt.

After a slower start to the season, several species are now starting to appear in these regions following recent rainfall, including WA’s unique orchids, banksias, everlastings, wattle and wreath flowers.

By September, the season will reach Perth’s botanical gardens, nature reserves and national parks, including the iconic Kings Park and Botanic Garden, which showcases around 3000 of WA’s 12,000 species of native flora — 60 per cent of which are found nowhere else on Earth.
