Email: www.questapartments.com.au.

Web: www.questapartments.com.au.

Price: According to official Quest website, from about $154 per double per night.

Room type stayed in: One-bedroom apartment.

Outlook: Medium-sized balcony overlooking small parking lot and very rarely used railway line, but towards a pleasant tree-lined, grassy area beyond.

Front desk and service: Front desk service generally excellent but area can close early; rooms serviced Monday-to-Saturday.

Wifi: Free and unlimited in guest rooms and public areas; simple log-in procedure.

Parking: Yes, free off-street self-parking available, some undercover.

Gym: Yes.

Clothes washing: Excluding studios, rooms have washer and dryer; communal laundry; laundry & dry-cleaning done for you at extra charge.

Cooking facilities: Yes, kitchenettes in studios, other rooms have full-size kitchens.

Power points: Plenty.

Entertainment: two flat-screen TVs, one each in lounge/dining and bedroom; former also has a sound bar.

Mini-bar: Yes.

Tea- and coffee-making facilities: Yes.

Comfort level: High.

Sleeping arrangements in standard room: King-sized bed can be converted into two singles..

Gown/slippers: No.

In-apartment safe: Yes, large and easy-to-use.

Bathroom: Ensuite with walk-in shower; separate shower with rainfall-type shower and ample room in glass cubicle.

Hot water: Plentiful, good pressure.

Towels: Good quality; plentiful.

Storage space: Excellent.

Desk & lighting: Adequate desk, natural light plus excellent in-wall and ceiling lighting.

X-factor: Excellent location close to main street of vibrant, very multi-cultural regional city. Despite a slightly bizarre floorplan which has the far side of the bed some 25 paces from the toilet, I really liked this accommodation, which could easily be used as the very model of a well organised regional hotel. Sold as a one-bedroom unit but really be four rooms — bedroom, bathroom (unfortunately not ensuite), combined lounge/dining area, and effectively a separate galley-style kitchen.
