Dramatic fjords, Inuit culture, polar bears, walrus, whales and Greenland’s remote fishing villages are among the highlights of Adventure Canada’s upcoming Heart of the Arctic cruise in July 2020.
Adventure Canada and Australian small ship specialists, Cruise Traveller, are offering Australians a special discount for the expedition which allows the cruise package to be bought in Australian dollars at no more than US dollar rates – representing a huge saving of more than A$18,000 per couple, subject to currency changes.
On July 19,2020, at Iqaluit in northern Canada, guests will board the Ocean Endeavour – a 198-passenger ship purpose-built for remote environments and equipped with twenty zodiacs, multiple lounges and a top-deck observation room. A memorable day will be spent in Kinngait – a centre for traditional Inuit art, where guests will visit studios, meet artists and be able to purchase artworks straight from the source. From there, the ship will make its way towards the icy waters of Hudson Strait – a rich ecosystem teeming with wildlife, where the expedition staff will scan for polar bears, walrus, whales, seals and seabirds. After exploring the strait and its small fishing communities, beautiful untouched islands and lofty cliffs, the ship will sail across the David Strait towards Greenland – with the possibility of spotting minke and humpback whales along the way.
Guests will then visit Greenland’s capital city, Nuuk – with its Danish colonial buildings, boutique shops, cafes and restaurants and the Greenland National Museum which focuses on colonial, Norse and Inuit presence in the country. The cruise will then finish by exploring the lush west Greenland coastland and the Sondre Stromfjord – a beautiful 168-kilometre-long fjord surrounded by mountains and glaciers. Guests will disembark at Kangerlussuaq and fly by charter flight to Toronto
Fares include the 12-night expedition cruise from Iqaluit to Kangerlussuaq, expedition parka, onboard presentations, all shipboard meals, tea and coffee, sightseeing, zodiac tours and charter flights from Ottawa to Iqaluit and from Kangerlussuaq to Toronto.
Cruise Traveller and Adventure Canada have negotiated exclusively for the price of the cruise to be in Australian dollars at no more than the US published rates – meaning Australians can save more than $9000 per person, if booked by February 28, 2020. Fares are available from A$9690 per person, twin-share – a saving of A$5217. The more exclusive junior suite is available from A$17,490 per person, twin share – a saving of A$9418 per person.
