Karma Group has earned a reputation for outstanding luxury accommodation whilst also embracing its environmental responsibilities as a global citizen. The company’s commitment to sustainability is demonstrated by the announcement of its latest initiative.

As part of Karma’s Sustainability Vision 2020, they have announced a partnership with Onetreeplanted.org, an organization dedicated to making it simple to plant trees – all over the world. With many of Karma’s resorts located in Australia, India and Indonesia, it will focus on reforestation in these regions.

“We are excited to be coming on board with One Tree Planted to help address the very real and devastating issue of deforestation in some of the most beautiful parts of the world,” said John Spence, Founder and Chairman of Karma Group. “We will commit to planting a tree for every single client we speak to during the year and we anticipate adding new initiatives as we develop the program. It is our goal to plant several hundred thousand trees this year. This is part of our ongoing global commitment to sustainability.”

Trees are integral to an environmentally-sound future – they clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink and provide a home for more than 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. That’s not mentioning the fact that forests provide jobs for 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and provide key ingredients in 25% of all medicines.

The One Tree Planted initiative will see Karma Group donate one dollar for every tour purchased, with every dollar equating to one tree planted.

Other sustainable initiatives recently introduced by Karma Group include the removal of single-use plastics and water dispensers placed around their resorts, which saves up to 150,000 plastic bottles going into landfill from just one resort.
