Kimberley region’s delights to dazzle and draw in visitors

August 30, 2019 Destination Global No Comments Email Email

Fishing for silver cobbler in the depths of Lake Argyle and taking in a bird’s-eye view of the magical Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungle Range) from a helicopter are just some of the unique East Kimberley experiences set to star in upcoming episodes of the Seven Network’s Better Homes and Gardens television program.

The broadcast is part of a partnership between the State Government, through Tourism Western Australia, and online travel agent 7travel. The first episode will air tomorrow (August 30) at 7pm, followed by a second episode on Friday week (September 6) at 7pm.

The episodes will showcase a range of unique East Kimberley experiences and destinations such as El Questro, the Gibb River Road and Home Valley Station as well as local tour operators.

The popular tourist hotspot of Broome will also feature on the show in October and November.

Supporting television and digital advertising targeting out-of-state visitors will run from September to November, promoting holiday packages to the Kimberley region and the new ‘Kimberley Express’ Melbourne to Kununurra direct flights.

The partnership forms part of Tourism WA’s annual domestic co-operative program with travel partners to attract more people to Western Australia.

Comments attributed to Tourism Minister Paul Papalia:

“From epic waterfalls, gorges and pockets of rainforest to the smooth stretch of white sand at Broome’s Cable Beach, the Kimberley region is brimming with options for visitors and showing this through television broadcast is a great way to give people a glimpse of what this stunning area has to offer and inspire them to make it their next holiday destination.

“Tickets are now on sale for the ‘Kimberley Express’ direct flights between Melbourne and Kununurra, with the first flight on May 15 next year, so it’s also perfect timing to get this message out to Eastern State audiences.

“The new flights will give more people easy access to this amazing part of the State and this broadcast opportunity is part of our work to encourage people to explore these areas as part of their stay in WA.”
