Korean Air and SuperM – if you have never heard of SuperM or as I did, thought it was Super Man…read on!

Korean Air announced recently that it had appointed the very popular Korean “pop” group, SuperM, as its global ambassador and to celebrate they also unveiled a special livery of SuperM on a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft…and here is Super M and the aircraft!

So, while they are clearly not Super Man, SuperM is a new group recently created by Korean management company, SM Entertainment (SM), with seven K-pop stars from existing SM boy groups, including Taemin from Shinee, Kai and Baekhyun from Exo, Taeyong and Mark from NCT 127, and Ten and Lucas from WayV.

Because the band is comprised of already successful K-pop members, SuperM is expected to expand Korean pop’s popularity and Korean Air hopes to improve its global presence through collaboration with SuperM.

SuperM also starred in the airline’s newest in-flight safety video that launched on November 4, and their song from the safety video, “Let’s go everywhere,” will be used in Korean Air’s future Global Ambassador projects.

On October 5, SuperM had its first concert in Los Angeles, and the group plans to embark on their first tour in North America starting from November ad SuperM’s first album debuted at no.1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart.

Korean Air expects future activities with SuperM to promote the ‘Korean’ brand on the global stage….so look out Australia, as Super M may be on the way to you…maybe ask your kids or grandkids!

Korean Air, which I flew on recently from London to Seoul and on to Brisbane and found to be excellent, [check out my flight review below], is a relatively unknown airline in Australia, at least in that while we see its aircraft from time to time, it was actually, established in 1969 and is one of the world’s top 20 airlines carrying more than 26 million passengers in 2018.

Korean Air operates over 460 flights per day to 126 cities in 44 countries on five continents, with a modern fleet of 169 aircraft and employing over 20,000 people, with Korean Air’s core business includes passenger, cargo, aerospace, catering and in-flight sales.

The airline’s main hub is at the Seoul Incheon (ICN) International Airport Terminal 2 which opened in 2018 and which I also recently visited, and it is fantastic.

Korean Air is also a founding member of the SkyTeam airline alliance, which together with its 19 members annually carries 630 million passengers worldwide, on more than 14,500 daily flights, covering 1,150 destinations in 175 countries.

In 2019 Korean Air celebrates its 50th anniversary so check out my recent flight review below and I am sure you will be impressed: –
