Does ski season always seem to pass you by before you’ve planned that cozy winter getaway you keep talking about? We get it – but lucky for you, New York State’s 50+ ski areas are accessible, affordable and historically open well into April, so there’s still plenty of time for you to take that last-minute ski trip this year:

There’s never been a better time to visit Hunter Mountain, which just saw a $9 million investment, the largest ski resort renovation in the Northeast in the last fifteen years. Last year, the mountain remained open for skiing until April 14. Nearby Catskills accommodation options range from modest and cozy to luxurious and design-centric: Jessie’s Harvest House, a restaurant and lodge, offers spring weekend rates starting at $150/night. For something higher-end, the design-forward Scribner’s Catskill Lodge lists weekend spring rates starting at $245/night.

Open for skiing until April 15 last year, Plattekill Mountain is a great affordable option, with weekend lift tickets for adults at just $67. When you’re off-the-slopes, be entertained by the funky design motifs of the Roxbury Motel, where rooms are inspired by a movie or TV show (Wizard of Oz, Indiana Jones and Gilligan’s Island, to name a few). The motel’s rad room packages include added values like the “Wild Winter Wow Factor Weekend!” – two nights, two massages and day passes to their Shimmer Spa, a dinner at Peekamoose Restaurant, discounts at Plattekill and champagne, white chocolate hot coca, gourmet cheese platter and a floral bouquet.

Further north in the Adirondacks, mountains tend to stay open even later in the year – Gore Mountain’s last ski day of 2018 was April 22. Gore Mountain Lodge boasts the position of closest lodging to the mountain, and offers a casual retreat with weekend rooms still available starting at $199.

Bristol Mountain skiing continued until the historic end date of May 1 in 2018. The mountain’s Ski & Stay program is available on weekdays and weekends, and includes one lift ticket with the special overnight rate, which starts at $125 at a number of partner hotels. Make a pit stop in nearby Rochester for history, food and one-of-a-kind tourism attractions like the Strong Museum of Play.
