When it comes to boating, it’s not rocket science. But with a few expert tips and tricks, your Le Boat boating holiday can run much smoother, especially if you’re a first-timer. Choose from Le Boat’s destinations across Europe, UK and Canada and start your boating holiday like a pro.

Tip #1: The Canal du Midi, France

France has plenty of canals to explore and is considered one of Le Boat’s most popular destinations. In fact, there are nine canal destinations in France with Le Boat. But one of the most popular is the Canal du Midi. When boating the Canal du Midi between Narbonne and Carcassonne, stop at the little écluse (lock) houses along the way for a perfectly chilled bottle of rose. This region in the south of France has plenty of vines growing exceptional grapes. To miss out on a local rose would be a crime.

Tip #2: The Camargue, France

Another destination in the south of France that is incredibly popular is The Camargue. Known for its salt flats, flamingos and Camargue horses, this is a destination for wildlife. Be sure to bring along some binoculars or ask the Le Boat team for some. This is also an excellent area for those new to boating to get their sea (well, canal) legs.

Tip #3: Mecklenburg Lake District, Germany

This area is known for its birdlife including Eurasian cranes and sea eagles and for its pristine canals. On a hot day, moor the boat and take a refreshing swim. Don’t forget to cap it off with a local beer from one of the many canal-side villages and towns.

Tip #4: Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Amsterdam is the perfect destination to combine boating and biking. When booking your Le Boat holiday, why not select to add-on bikes? That way you can explore the cities and villages by bike and even venture toward the stunning tulip fields on your journey.

Tip# 5: Loch Ness and the Caledonian Loch, Scotland

Scotland isn’t just great whiskey, castles and kilts. It’s the country that supposedly invented golf. Set off on your boating holiday with Le Boat, but be sure to moor up and try out a few of the golf courses along the way. The Castle Stuart Golf Links, Loch Ness Golf Course and the Inverness Golf Club are in Inverness, and the Fort Augustus Golf Club is right on the canal.

Armed with some destination-focused tips, the only thing left to do is book your next Le Boat holiday. With more than 50 years of experience in offering exceptional service and expert knowledge of canals in Europe, UK and Canada, Le Boat are the only boating holiday company to book. Be the captain of your holiday (and your boat) with Le Boat.
