As part of the national June observance of African-American Music Month, Arkansas Tourism will honor the contributions of African-American musicians by featuring local artists who have cultivated musical careers in The Natural State. http://www.stevecafeandcuisine.com/Arkansans are encouraged to follow along on the Arkansas Tourism social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube) to watch exclusive artist videos and learn about upcoming special events.

Virtually every genre of music has in some way been touched and influenced by African-Americans. Consequently, it’s fitting for African-American Music Month to recognize and celebrate the historical influence African-Americans have had on the music industry and other artists. First initiated on June 7, 1979, by President Jimmy Carter, African-American Music Month scores the rich legacy of African-American music and history by paying homage to the many artists, writers and songs that have shaped American pop culture and inspired artists across all musical genres, while transcending color, circumstances and time.
