Bad Ragaz is lit up – in a very special place: in the Tamina Gorge. The spot where the world famous thermal water bubbles up from its source, which made Bad Ragaz in Eastern Switzerland so well known. For the second time, the «Light Ragaz» projects the multimedia light show onto the largest natural screen in the word, you can see this spectacle until 30 September 2018.

Somewhere between illusion and reality visitors enter the rock face as the story of the mysterious world of spring water and the power of the elements is told here with the newest technology. The Zurich agency Projektil first produced this one of a kind show last year and brought it to the Canton of St. Gallen – it was an instant hit. «We are very excited that the show illuminates our gorge again this year,» says Patrick Vogler, CEO of Grand Resort Bad Ragaz. This was made possible through the collaboration between the local tourism organisation, the Canton of St Gallen, the local authority and last but not least Grand Resort Bad Ragaz.

Using cutting edge technology light artists can project 3D effects with millimetre precision onto the structures and rock formations of the raw, up to 80 m high Tamina Gorge.  In its second rendition of «Light Ragaz,» under the theme of watercolour, a fantastic story unfolds on the almost one kilometre long visually rich and spectacular journey.

There is something mystical attached to mineral water and the gorge – some 800 years ago warm water was discovered in the cold stone. Monks from the nearby Pfäfers Monastery believed a dragon lived in the gorge. In the 13th century they had no other explanation as to how else the constant patches of fog appeared permanently at the entrance to the cave. However, the conundrum was solved in 1242 when the warm healing water was discovered. But it took another 300 years before the famous physician, scientist and philosopher Paracelsus came to Bad Ragaz and confirmed the healing effect of the water.
