Promising poolside summer fun in the outback, Baillie Lodges has announced a backyard summer sale at luxury base camp Longitude 131° with ‘no worries’ all-inclusive rates, terrific savings and drop-dead views direct to Uluru and Kata Tjuta.

The three-night Classic Outback Summer special includes savings of 20 per cent on the nightly rates with a bonus guided Uluru base walk, a 10-kilometre rite of passage for keen walkers visiting the Red Centre.

Also included is a $300 credit per tent for use towards a personal experience of choice: private dining for two on the Dune Top under a glittering canopy of stars, a facial or massage in the Spa Kinara, a special selection from the cellarmasters wine list or a heli adventure around this vast, World Heritage-listed backyard.

In the style of a luxury safari, summer days in the outback start early, with adventures arriving at Uluru and Kata Tjuta in the cool still of dawn and returning to the lodge for a full breakfast, perhaps even with a glass of Champagne to toast in the day. Better than the average backyard, Longitude 131° has two pools, each with a fully stocked serve-yourself bar and perfect for languishing with a book and a mate.

Lunch is a long and leisurely affair in the cool Dune House, with a menu designed for the season and including a fresh prawn and radicchio salad, pan roasted barramundi from the Top End, freely flowing chilled wine and icy cold lemon myrtle sorbet to finish. An afternoon siesta is on the cards.

Summer is also the season for some spectacular storms; lucky guests see Uluru transformed as skies darken with rolling storm clouds, its familiar rust-red reflecting a deep amethyst as waterfalls form, coursing its crevices and replenishing swimming holes at its base. Rain falls in heavy drops, bringing the rare and wonderful smell of petrichor to the outback, then disappearing like a mirage just as quickly as it had arrived.

As the sun sets crimson over Kata Tjuta, guests enjoy a signature Aussie negroni or Salt Bush margarita served with canapés nestled in the cool reserves of Uluru, before exploring the giddy lights of Field of Light and dining around the campfire at Table 131°. As the sky turns an inky black, luxury swags are unfurled on outdoor daybeds, inviting unforgettable star gazing by the warm flicker of a personal campfire.

The Classic Outback Summer offer is valid for stays from December 15 through to February 28, 2021. Inclusive rates start at $3672* per person twin share on the package comprising all dining, open bar with French Champagne and premium wines and spirits, in-tent bar, signature experiences and return Ayers Rock Airport transfers.
