Los Angeles Tourism, together with Universal Studios Hollywood (USH) and Virgin Australia, hosted 50 home-based travel agents at a cocktail event in Brisbane last Monday evening.

Held at Emporium Hotel Southbank, agents were given the opportunity to learn about what’s new in L.A., Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Universal Studios Hollywood as they mixed and sampled L.A.-themed cocktails.

Leading the conversation were top representatives visiting from L.A., including Vice President of International Tourism at Los Angeles Tourism, Kathy Smits, and Senior Vice President of Sales at Universal Studios Hollywood, Dennis Quinn.

Key updates for agents included the 30 new hotels that are scheduled to open across the city over the next four years, particularly in the neighbourhoods of Downtown L.A. and Hollywood, as well as the opening of the iconic Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in 2020.

Agents also heard about the game-changing developments at LAX as part of the USD$14 billion modernisation program, including the Midfield Satellite Concourse (adding 20 new international gates to Tom Bradley International Terminal by 2022) and the Automated People Mover, set to begin operating in 2020 and 2023 respectively.

One lucky agent also won a trip to Los Angeles and Universal Studios Hollywood, including return flights, courtesy of Virgin Australia.
