Today, Lufthansa Technik and Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH have agreed to extend the lease for the maintenance hangar, the workshop and other offices and service areas until the end of 2022. With this lease extension, Lufthansa Technik now has more scope to plan the future of the maintenance business in Berlin. Now, the approximately 60 employees in the workshop can remain at the Schönefeld site until the end of 2022. The workshop’s unclear future has been repeatedly addressed in recent months in the Brandenburg State parliament and was the subject of media coverage. Components for aircraft engines such as pipes, conduits or cooling systems are maintained and repaired in the workshop.
