The Majorca Tourism Foundation, in partnership with the Majorca Film Commission, has announced a competition to source the best ideas for the cinematographic production of five short films about the island. The films should aim to promote the island’s image based on its safe, sustainable, competitive, quality tourism in an effort to kickstart the tourism sector in Majorca.

The short film projects must be filmed entirely in Majorca, with a plot linked to the island. The theme is of the filmmaker’s choice, but must involve an iconic Majorcan tourist product and be between 5 and 15 minutes long.

The competition is divided into three different phases. During the first phase, five winners will be selected to present the best ideas for the short film. During the second phase, they will have three weeks to develop the scripts of their proposals, from which, in a third phase, the winners will be chosen to produce the films with budgets of up to € 14,500 each.

The competition will open on 09 March and close on 23 March and is also open to professional filmmakers located outside of Spain. Entries can be made through the website: www.mfc.mallorcafilmcommission.net
