Mango Tree Mumbai Acclaimed As The “Best Thai Restaurant” At The Times Food And Nightlife Awards 2019

Leading Asian restaurant operator, Mango Tree Worldwide, is celebrating after Mango Tree Mumbai was named as the city’s “Best Thai Restaurant” in the Times Food and Nightlife Awards 2019.Organised annually by Times Group Books, a division of The Times of India Group, the Times Food and Nightlife Awards are India’s most prestigious and longest running culinary awards. Often referred to as India’s “Food Oscars”, the event is a celebration of the country’s rich and diverse F&B scene. This year’s gala ceremony was hosted on 1st March 2019 in the ballroom of the five-star ITC Maratha Hotel in Mumbai.

This glittering event was attended by approximately 750 guests, including leading figures from the Indian culinary scene, business leaders and famous celebrities from the worlds of fashion and Bollywood. The “Best Thai Restaurant” award was accepted by Rana Singh, the owner of Mango Tree Mumbai.

“We are delighted and deeply honoured to receive this accolade. The award is especially gratifying as we have been operating in Mumbai for less than a year, so it is a wonderful reflection of the impact we have made in this highly competitive marketplace. I would like to thank everyone who made this possible, including our exceptional team and our customers, who have helped to put Mango Tree Mumbai firmly on the Indian culinary map,” Mr Singh commented.

Mango Tree Mumbai became the group’s first outpost in India when it opened in April 2018, located in the upmarket Juhu neighbourhood. This stylish full-service restaurant promises modern Thai cuisine in a refined ambience. It is divided in three distinctly designed zones: a lounge, dining area and private dining room, which provides the perfect setting for life’s special occasions.

The restaurant’s menu focuses on classical cooking techniques and elegant modern presentation, creating exquisite dishes that blend fresh local produce and authentic Thai herbs and spices. Signature dishes include miang kham (Thai betel leaf wraps), poh taek (clear seafood hotpot), yum hua plee (banana blossom salad), pooh phad phong karee (crab in yellow curry sauce), and massaman kha kae (massaman curry with lamb shanks). These are accompanied by a wide selection of Thai-inspired handcrafted cocktails.

Mango Tree allows diners to satisfy their appetites by delivering the original flavours and fragrances of Thailand in the heart of Mumbai,” said Trevor MacKenzie, Mango Tree’s Global Managing Director.

Mango Tree Worldwide will continue to seek fresh opportunities to expand its footprint in key Indian cities where there is a real appetite for Thai cuisine. The company will aim to identify strong partners in prime locations in Mumbai and other tier one metros, potentially with multiple new outlets in a single city.

The world’s first Mango Tree restaurant opened its doors in Bangkok in 1994. Since then, Mango Tree has expanded across the world, with global portfolio of eateries operating under a series of brands, including Mango Tree, Mango Tree Café, Mango Tree Kitchen, Mango Tree Bistro, Mango Tree Deli, Mango Chili and COCA. The company is now on track to achieve its target of reaching 100 restaurant outlets worldwide by 2025.
