Marriott International claimed the esteemed title of Accommodation Chain of the Year award at this year’s HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence.http://www.itb-asia.com/press/media-services/accreditation/ The hotel industry’s night of nights proved an overwhelming success for Marriott International, with the company recognised across the board for its commitment to exceptional quality and customer service.

Craig S. Smith, President and Managing Director of Asia Pacific, and Sean Hunt, Area Vice President of Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, were highly commended in the categories of Asia-Pacific Hotelier of the Year and Australasian Hotelier of the Year respectively, for their leadership during what has been a year of unprecedented growth for Marriott International.

“The last twelve months have provided incredible opportunities for our associates to realise their potential, and I’m delighted to see that effort is now being recognised not only internally but also by the wider industry. I’m incredibly proud of all of our staff and congratulate all winners on their dedication and outstanding efforts,” said Mr Hunt.

Awards received by Marriott International at the 2018 HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence presented by Sealy Posturepedic included:

  • Sheraton on the Park Sydney – Best Business Hotel

  • Sean Hunt – Australasian Hotelier of the Year (highly commended)
  • Neeraj Chadha, Marriott International Fiji & Samoa Hotels – South Pacific General Manager (highly commended)
  • Meagan Sor, Sheraton on the Park Sydney – Revenue Management
  • Adam Leonard, Sydney Harbour Marriott – Sales & Marketing (highly commended)
  • Sunny Togiavalu, Sheraton on the Park Sydney – Concierge
  • Maya Kusumoto, Sheraton on the Park Sydney – Food & Beverage Associate (highly commended)

These accolades come at a time of continued growth for Marriott International in Australia and the Pacific region, where the company operates 30 hotels and has a further 21 in the pipeline. Marriott International currently employs over 4,000 throughout ANZP and the current pipeline properties will provide a further 2,500+ new hotel jobs in the region.
