Melco Resorts & Entertainment is an avid supporter of Macau’s community events and actively encourages and facilitates employee participation at what has become one of the most important sports event in the territory, the Macao International Dragon Boat Races 2019. For the 13th consecutive year, the Melco Dragon Boat Team will partake in the races to be held at Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre on June 1-2 and June 7. The races are organized by the Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government and Dragon Boat Association of Macao, China, and co-organized by the Municipal Affairs Bureau and Macao Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau.
Ahead of the event, the company hosted an auspicious blessing ceremony for the Melco Dragon Boat Team, to offer well-wishes for success and to offer support to the 30-strong team of employee athletes. The ceremony was officiated by Ms. Akiko Takahashi, Executive Vice President and Chief Officer, Human resources and Corporate Social Responsibility and Mr. Kent Wong, Chief Advisor, and other executives of the company. As part of the traditional ritual, Mr. Kent Wong dotted the dragon’s eye and the team demonstrated their team spirit and determination by practice-racing on Nam Van Lake. Firecrackers were set off in celebration of the forthcoming event and the athletes received red pockets for good luck.
