In light of the health concerns related to the outbreak of COVID-19, Melco Resorts & Entertainment is collaborating with community partners Macao Daily News and Women’s General Association of Macau to drive public awareness and wellbeing for the local community.

Melco donates MOP 3 million to Women’s General Association of Macau for the purchase of surgical face masks and provides for allowance scheme for families impacted by the Coronavirus. Ms. Akiko Takahashi, Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff to Chairman & CEO of Melco; and representatives from Women’s General Association of Macau’s including President Ms. Lam Yuen Mui and Legislative Assembly member of Macau SAR Ms. Grace Wong Kit Cheng attend the cheque presentation ceremony.

Melco is donating MOP 3 million for the purchase of surgical face masks to its long-term community partner, Women’s General Association of Macau, with the aim to help reduce risk of infection. The donation will also provide for an allowance scheme to help families impacted by the new strain of Coronavirus, in particular single mothers and those with children with special needs.

Furthermore, Melco is supporting Macao Daily News on an extensive online video promoting personal and public hygiene and wellness. The series, titled ‘Healthy Macao: Essential Tips for Combatting Illness’, covers topical information on issues such as ways to identify symptoms of COVID-19, how to wear tie-on surgical masks safely and effectively, best bathroom hygiene practices, choosing household disinfectants, and stretches for maintaining physical health and wellbeing.

Ms. Lam Yuen Mui, President of Women’s General Association of Macau, said, “The Women’s General Association of Macau has served as a bridge between the government and the local community since the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus through our efforts to prevent and combat its spread. We are grateful for Melco’s support at this critical time as we fight the virus together, which enables the Association to extend care and concern to local families, especially for women and children, in need.  Melco’s support showcases the company’s dedication to social responsibility and its commitment to the community. The Association will continue to work with the government to protect community members from all walks of life, as we join hands with the whole of Macau to contribute towards a healthy and beautiful city.”

Melco’s announcement follows the Company’s recent donations to help curb the outbreak of COVID-19, including a HK$20 million donation to Wuhan and Hubei in collaboration with the Macao SAR Government and Red Cross Society of China Hubei Branch, and a MOP 5 million donation for the local Macau community to set up a Special Aid Fund for Workers in Need in partnership with Macao Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM).
