Melco Resorts & Entertainment (Nasdaq: MLCO) prioritizes responsible gaming as one of its core pillars in corporate social responsibility. To demonstrate its commitment to responsible gaming, Melco recently supported the Macao SAR Government’s Responsible Gaming Awareness Month by organizing interactive game booths across its properties to further promote its responsible gaming culture and raise employee awareness around the issue.
Melco set-up game booths across City of Dreams, Studio City, Altira, Mocha Club and Macau corporate office in a series of events from November12-30, 2018. These events attracted nearly one-third of Melco’s workforce, with more than 5,800 employees participating.
Guided by the Company’s goal to be responsible and accountable to its customers, employees and all stakeholders, responsible gaming has always been a paramount issue for Melco in an effort to proactively reduce and alleviate issues related to gambling addiction. With our three-pronged strategy, Melco’s responsible gaming strategy includes employee training and education, the integration of advanced technology and systems as well as engagement with the local community.
Considered a pioneer in the field, Melco remains the only company in Macau to provide compulsory responsible gaming training to all employees in both gaming and non-gaming roles. In the past decade, over 56,000 employees participated in Melco’s responsible gaming awareness activities, dedicating more than 1,300 event hours. In 2016, Melco became the first gaming operator in Macau to install state-of-the-art facial recognition security systems at each of its gaming area entrances to keep out patrons who opt for self-exclusion or who have been banned from entering due to gambling addiction. Melco was also the only gaming company in Macau to win the CSR Category-Gold Award twice by the Business Awards ofMacau.
