Supporting Melco Resorts & Entertainment’s environmental goals to create a more sustainable future for our children and the planet, and efforts towards strengthening the overall development of Macau’s Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), the Company recently shared sustainable procurement initiatives and its broader sustainability strategy with fifty representatives from over thirty local SMEs of various sectors at a workshop held at Studio City.

Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (CPTTM)’s Manager of Standards, Management, Training & Assessment Ms. Jenny Ho introduced the global standards developed by the International Organization for Standardization in alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) and targets as practical guidelines for driving sustainable operations. The workshop also brought to attention factors to consider in sustainable procurement, including the environmental impact and reusability of products and services, an SME’s role within a sustainable supply chain, and awareness for shifting customer demands. A networking session enabled Melco’s Supply Chain Department and workshop participants to convene, to jointly pursue further sustainable products and solutions, and catalyze potential collaborative business opportunities.

Ms. Jenny Ho, said, “As the Macau correspondent member of the International Organization for Standardization, CPTTM strongly encourages local enterprises to enhance their management systems and practices to meet international standards. CPTTM is pleased to have the continued support of Melco to contribute to the enhancement of productivity and competitiveness for local SMEs and to also benefit the sustainable development of Macau and the Greater Bay Area.”

Ms. Denise Chen, Senior Vice President, Chief Sustainability Officer of Melco Resorts & Entertainment, said, “The sustainable development targets detailed in our Above & Beyond Sustainability and CSR Report guide our efforts in tackling global challenges in the economic, environmental, and social dimension. Supporting our efforts in both sustainability and the development of local suppliers and SMEs, the purpose of the workshop is to work together with Macau vendors to implement and increase best practices in sustainability to foster business development and maximize potential. It also establishes a constructive opportunity for Melco to expand our procurement from local SMEs so that we can collaboratively work towards a sustainable future.”
