Millennium Hotels and Resorts (MHR) was recently conferred “Best International Hotel Management Group of China” at the 2021 AHF Asia Hotel and Travel Forum Annual Meeting and 16th China Hotel Starlight Awards Ceremony.
The event, which was held in Shanghai, China, also saw the global hospitality leader win at the property level, with Millennium Resort Wuyishan listed among the “Top 10 Resort Hotels of China”.
A total of 250 hotels and hospitality groups took part in this year’s awards. For the “Best International Hotel Management Groups of China” category, judges reviewed the reputation of the company and size of the hotel portfolio among other criteria. MHR joins an illustrious list of hotel groups such as Accor, Marriott International, Hyatt and Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, who were previously accorded this prestigious award. To clinch its spot among China’s top ten resorts, Millennium Resort Wuyishan was shortlisted from a list of 30 hotels.

MHR is a global hotel company which owns, manages and operates over 145 hotels across some 80
locations worldwide. Its properties are in key gateway cities such as London, New York, Los Angeles,
Paris, Dubai, Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong. MHR first entered the China market in 2006 with the opening of Millennium Hongqiao Hotel Shanghai. Since then, the Group has expanded its footprint across Mainland China, opening its tenth hotel – Millennium Resort Wuyishan, in 2019.
Millennium Resort Wuyishan is set in China’s fourth UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage site.
Close to the famous Wuyishan Scenic Zone, the hotel has 205 beautifully-furnished rooms and suites and 11 villas. Apart from enjoying a luxurious stay while visiting the scenic sights of the city, guests can also relax and rejuvenate at the outdoor Olympic-sized swimming pool, or hold events, with over 1,175 sqm of meeting space, including an 850 sqm pillarless banquet hall.
The China Hotel Starlight Awards is an award selection event of China’s hotel industry jointly initiated by Asia Hotel Forum and authoritative mainstream media of China. It was first held in 2005 and is now entering its 16th year. The organising committee constantly updates and improves the selection criteria and confirms the final list of winners through a strict process. The Starlight Awards has become a highly respected platform. It promotes the healthy development of China’s hotel industry and is often seen as the “Oscars of the China Hotel Industry”
