92.7 MIX FM are thrilled to once again, be presenting MIX FM LIVE hosted by MIX FM Breakfast’s Mark & Caroline.

Mark Darin, 92.7 Mix FM Breakfast Announcer said: “What a line up!  Straight back to 1981!!  It’s like Thomo’s Mooloolaba opened up their doors one more time!!!”

Caroline Hutchinson, 92.7 Mix FM Breakfast Announcer said: “I don’t know if I’m more excited about Glenn Shorrock, Choirboys or The Whitlams.  Am I a 70’s, or 80’s or 90’s kid??  Maybe all three!!”

Without further ado, the legendary artists set to rock the Sandstone Point Hotel for MIX FM LIVE – CLASSC HITS ALL DAY 2019 are (drum roll please)

Blowin’ up the pokies since 1992, these iconic piano-rockers will headline MIX FM LIVE 2019!  THE WHITLAMS have been a fixture of the Australian music scene for over 25 years, producing 7 studio albums, 2 live albums, 18 singles and numerous ARIA awards.  Let’s not forget to mention their double platinum album ‘Love This City’, the number 1 ‘Torch The Moon’ and their ‘Truth, beauty & A Picture of You – The Best of the Whitlams’ which sat in the top 10 for six weeks running!  Their hit single “No Aphrodiasiac” was listed at number 1 on Triple J’s Hottest 100 in 1997, thanks to listeners from all around Australia!

Known for enduring hits such as That’s When I Think of You, Compulsory Hero, ‘To Love Me, Scars, Don’t Forget Me, and, of course, If I Could, 1927 made a devastating entry into the ears of its listeners with the Quintuple Platinum selling album …ish in 1988, which earned the band a slew of ARIA Awards as well as a lot of fans along the way.  Following up …ish with the multi-platinum second album The Otherside, a self-titled third album, and countless live shows at home and abroad, the last couple of decades have certainly earned 1927 legendary status.  Not content to rest on their laurels, after more than ten years, 1927 recenlty released a new studio album Generation I which may just be the band’s finest album yet.

GLENN SHORROCK  founding member of pop groups The Twilights, Axiom and Little River Band as well as being a solo performer. The Twilights had eight consecutive national hit singles including Needle in a Haystack and What’s Wrong with the Way I Live. Axiom’s top 10 hits were Arkansas Grass, Little Ray of Sunshine and My Baby’s Gone.  Little River Band had national and international chart success, including the Shorrock-penned Emma, Help Is on Its Way and Cool Change.  Shorrock was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame as a solo artist in 1991 and as a member of Little River Band in 2004. In May 2001 the Australasian Performing Right Association , as part of its 75th Anniversary celebrations, named Cool Change as one of the APRA Top 30 Australian songs of all time.

When he was 16 he inveigled his way into a Sydney hotel to hang out with the Rolling Stones. From that day on, RICHARD CLAPTON  knew he was going to be a rock star. It’s now almost 50 years since that fateful day -years filled with a lifetime of incredible experiences, outrageous good times and a catalogue of iconic and timeless songs. Through the glory years of rock ‘n’ roll, in cities as varied as London, Berlin, Sydney, Los Angeles and Paris, Richard forged his own career and built up a significant body of work while living, loving and partying with the biggest names in the Australian and international music world. For 40 years, Richard Clapton has been, above all else, a songwriter-a wry observer of human behaviour and an astute commentator on the Australian condition. His best songs- Deep Water, The Best Years of Our Lives, Goodbye Tiger, Glory Road, Lucky Country, Girls on the Avenue, Trust Somebody and Capricorn Dancer – capture the essence of this country and the meaning of our lives like few others.

CHOIRBOYS led by charismatic front-man Mark Gable formed on Sydney’s Northern Beaches in 1979. They were soon scooped up by legendary producer George Young from the Easybeats for Alberts Music. Their first album spawned the hits “Never Gonna Die” and “Boys in the Band”, but it wasn’t until 1987 that they realised the classic rock anthem Run to Paradise which is the 11th highest selling single of the 80s. That song propelled them to legendary stays in Australia and the embarked on many sell out pub tours of their own as well as bills with The Angels, Cold Chisel, Bon Jovi, Deep Purple and Def Leppard. To this day Mark performs the classic “Run To Paradise” and a singalong is 100% guaranteed.

SHANNON NOLL…straight from Condobolin to TVs in every lounge room across the country courtesy of the very first season of Australian Idol. Since the the release of What about me, 15 years ago,  Noll has released five top ten albums, including two number-one multi-platinum sellers. He is the only Australian male artist in Australian chart history to have ten consecutive top ten singles.  Noll’s debut single “What About Me” was certified 4× platinum and became the highest selling single of 2004 in Australia. Shannons’ popularity has never waned and he continues to deliver sensational live performances.  We’ve heard it ring out from the top of the charts so many times and 2017 saw him in the finest voice of his career on his current album, Unbroken.

PSEUDO ECHO formed in 1982, releasing their first album, Autumnal Park, in 1984 which skyrocketed the band to household name status across the country.  Their second album, Love an Adventure, spawned another string of hits including its title track, Don’t Go, Try, Living in a Dream and their remake of the Lipps, Inc. song Funkytown, which brought the group their biggest international success and spent seven weeks at No. 1 in Australia from December 1986.  In 2012 PSEUDO ECHO celebrated their 30th anniversary and their ever-evolving look and sound continues to attract a whole new generation of fans with albums such as ‘Teleport’er, ‘Ultraviolet’ and ‘Live at the Viper Room’.

Compu-PU-pu-PU-pu-PU Computer Games”! If that chorus from the MI-SEX hit isn’t familiar to you then you didn’t live through the early 80’s.  This international hit single preceded the glut of similar-sounding British chart entrants by a year or more and is one of the defining pop-rock songs of the Australasian music-scape. It ascended to #1 on the Australian charts in November ’79 and hit the top five in New Zealand.  By April 1980 Computer Games had charted in more than 20 countries, and had peaked inside the top ten in Canada, France, Austria, Italy, West Germany and South Africa. Lead singer, Steve Gilpin’s unfortunate death in 1992 forced MI-SEX underground for 20 years and the simple acceptance of an invitation by Steve Balbi to front MI-SEX at a private party and the Christchurch Quake Relief Concert to confirm the right chemistry that would once again ignite their passion for “live performance” and we couldn’t be happier.

It’s a unique band that finds itself cherished as a bona fide legend in the ARIA Hall of Fame while remaining a virtual enigma to the world that knows its name, but the church, led by the enigmatic STEVE KILBEY, is just that.  Since arriving in Australia half a century ago, STEVE KILBEY has forged a unique and frighteningly individual stream of musical thoughts including the church’s accidental signature tune, Under The Milky Way, being sung along with him by countless Australians.  A songwriter of many musical tongues, STEVE KILBEY – band singer, songwriter and bassist, painter, writer, poet, actor, sage, dispenser of arcane wisdom and much loved national treasure – has created an all-embracing artistic universe of unearthly beauty.

When GANGgajang‘s beloved friend and bass player Chris Bailey passed away in 2013, four original members Cal Callaghan, Buzz Bidstrup, Geoff Stapleton and Robbie James made a pact to continue on as Chris had wished to celebrate 30 years since the band began.  GANGgajang released its first single, Gimme Some Lovin’ in November 1984, reaching the top of the charts in early 1985.  Shortly after, their self-titled debut album gained the number one spot in Perth and Brisbane with their quirky anthem Sounds of Then (This Is Australia) quickly finding a place on mainstream radio across Australia.  Four classic albums followed including the cult Quiksilver film Mad Wax soundtrack, a retrospective DVD, and countless tours of Australia and Brazil.

UNCANNY XMEN formed in Melbourne in 1981 and worked the pub rock circuit.  Uncanny X-Men are known for their hits such as The Party, How Do You Get Your Kicks?, 50 Years and Time Goes So Fast and Everybody Wants to Work as well as their crazy onstage antics and massive singsongs.  Ever the show-man, Mannix became known for his mischievous and comical send-ups of other artists. Brian is without doubt one of our most charismatic lead singers and a well-known larrikin. Mannix was also a regular on the ABC1 television quiz show Spicks and Specks.  and in 2006 performed in the Countdown Spectacular and at the 2006 AFL Grand Final.  Mannix also appeared as a contestant on Channel 7’s series of Dancing with the Stars in its twelfth season during 2012 where he came fifth.

Originally formed for a one off show in 1986, THE CHANTOOZIES amassed quite the following and went on to tour Australia extensively. They achieved great success with their original material Wanna Be Up, Kiss And Tell, Walk On and covers of Witch Queen, He’s Gonna Step on You, Love the One You’re With and I’ll Be There; all top 20 hits reaching platinum and gold sales. Throughout the 80’s and 90’s they shared the stage with many of Australia’s biggest acts and supported international act Billy Joel for an Australia wide 38 show tour. After taking time out to pursue their individual careers the girls reunited for ‘The 25 years of Mushroom Music’ in 1998, the ‘Countdown Spectacular’ tour in 2006  and again in 2012 when they supported Rick Astley on his Australian tour. THE CHANTOOZIES released their first new recording in 23 years in 2014, a cover of the Promises hit Baby It’s You.

John  ‘SWANEE’ Swan is a blue blood of the Australian rock scene. In 1978 he released his first album ‘Into The Night’ but SWANEE’S first major chart success was a great rendition of Tim Hardin’s If I Were A Carpenter from the album ‘This Time It’s Different’. Success with the next two singles from the album immediately followed. Lady What’s Your Name and Temporary Heartache both screamed straight up the chartsSWANEE played all over the country, winning new fans wherever he went. He built a reputation as one of the best and most respected rock n roll singers in the country.  Along came the Party Boys self-titled album which went number one in 3 weeks thanks to the success of the number one single He’s Gonna Step On You Again and two top 10 hits Hold Your Head Up and Gloria.  SWANEE is a classic Australian rock artist with a bluesy feel and a voice that never disappoints much to the delight of his loyal fans Australia-wide!  If you want to understand SWANEE’s story, all you have to do is listen to his new album, One Day at a Time.

SEAN KELLY started his career in the early 70s as lead singer of Teenage Radio Stars and is best known as lead singer of Models, who formed in 1978 and had a run of massive hits including the Number 1 hit Out Of Mind Out Of Sight, Barbados, I Hear Motion and Big On Love. Models disbanded in 1988 and Sean formed Absent Friends with Wendy Matthews, James Valentine and Garry Gary Beers of INXS, the band had a massive hit with ARIA award winning song I Don’t Want To Be With Nobody But You. Sean then went on to form The Dukes whose debut album was nominated for an Album of the Year ARIA award. Since that time on various occasions line ups of the Models have reformed and in 2010 Models were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
