Yet more troubles have surfaced for the grounded Boeing 737 MAX aircraft type, with Boeing reported to have found debris, left behind by mechanics, inside the wing fuel tanks of several undelivered 737 MAXs.

According to a report in the Seattle Times, the debris discovery has prompted Boeing to order inspections of all undelivered MAXs. Some 400 of them are stored in various places.

Additionally, 385 Boeing MAXs have already been delivered to customers and are parked at airfields around the world, grounded since last March as investigations continue following the fatal crash of two Boeing 737 MAXs. No final decision has been made on whether to inspect the tanks of those aircraft.

Conjecture over the nature of the debris, on an airline website, has mentioned as possibilities left-behind tools and rags, jettisoned during the aircraft assembly process. The type of debris has not been confirmed, but as the Seattle Times points out, either tools or rags “would be cause for serious concern”.
