New Aussie Workwear Brand Made From Recycled Materials Launches In Brisbane

Eco workwear brand BeauTex Designs is hitting the pavement this week with Brisbane food
delivery company, BLK PKG, kitting out their staff in 100% recycled clothing and footwear.Business owner Rah Nelson from BLK PKG said “I am excited to support a local brand that aligns
with our ethos for sustainability.”

“The BeauTex range is the first of its kind, offering functional and fashion forward workwear that is both environmentally and socially responsible.”

“We are proud to be wearing 100% recycled clothes and shoes and amazed that such quality
and comfort comes from products made with plastic bottles and old tyres,” Mr Nelson said.
BeauTex Designs is an Aussie owned eco workwear brand that originally designed shirts,
aprons, capes and shoes for the hair, beauty and hospitality industries. Amidst COVID-19, BeauTex Designs is pivoting to supply eco work and footwear for essential services such as doctors, nurses and delivery people.

Created by Brisbane based entrepreneur and designer, Brooke Jones, BeauTex is a solution-driven
business supporting a new way of manufacturing that improves on current practices socially and
environmentally. It’s pioneering sustainability in the workwear industry, driven by waste
minimisation, transparency and re-use, addressing landfill and plastic issues globally.

“Saying no to landfill and yes to re-use, is what makes BeauTex a game changer”, said Brooke Jones, BeauTex Founder and Director. “I’ve spent the past two years undertaking extensive research and development to perfect the products and processes that harness the potential of waste materials. It has been an amazing journey and very rewarding to launch the BeauTex Designs range of footwear in 2019.”

Each shoe uses an eco-fabric made from 12 x 500ml recycled plastic water bottles, the soles are made from repurposed rubber and include 6mm memory foam support for comfort. They are water
repellent, bleach resistant and crafted from high quality recycled and repurposed materials that are
made to last.

“BeauTex is not only keeping discarded plastic bottles out of the ocean and landfill, we have also gone plastic free in our packaging with the first shoes ever packaged in recycled cement bags handmade in  Cambodia. I’m pleased to be able to shine a positive light on manufacturing in third world countries, with my brand supporting an intensive training program developed for disabled, deaf and underprivileged people in the community. The program provides trainees with the necessary skills to gain employment, with all profits diverted back into the Cambodian community,” Ms Jones said.

BeauTex Designs provides an option for large businesses who are now increasingly more aware and
wanting to adopt sustainable and ethical operations to reduce their footprint on the globe. The sheer volume and turnover in workwear can contribute significant impacts for large businesses. However, finding suppliers and products that align with sustainability values has been challenging.
Companies care that their uniforms are made by people who have been paid and treated fairly, under acceptable working conditions. They also want assurances they have been manufactured without polluting water ways, burning fossil fuels or using toxic chemicals, that doesn’t cost the earth.

“It’s my passion to never stand still in the quest for better manufacturing practices, and in the midst
of a crisis, we’re proud to be able offer our services to businesses banding together and supporting
one another during this time. Initially we thought we would be working within specific industries to
better their footprint, but this experience has opened our eyes to the possibilities of working with a
wider range of trades.” – Ms Jones said.
