New Caledonia Tourism (NCT) announces its latest visitor arrival figures from Australia, finishing 2019 with an increase of 7.5 per cent year on year. These latest figures see Australia maintain its status as the second largest market for New Caledonia after France and mark five years of growth for the market since 2013. http://www.tourismlegal.com.au/

NCT attributes this growth to its Feel The Pulse campaign, which launched in early 2019 with the goal of positioning New Caledonia as a distinct South Pacific destination with unique experiences for travellers of all interests. Campaign activity throughout 2019 included a large-scale mural in Sydney’s Marrickville suburb, outdoor advertising, content partnerships with top tier online publications, partnerships with high-profile Australian influencers and cooperative campaigns with key partners, all of which helped ensure wide-reaching visibility for the destination and its offering.

NCT Australia Director, Emilie Hess, says this consistent growth in tourism is a great achievement for the destination, the tourism board and its partners, and a reason to be optimistic during these unprecedented times.

“We are thrilled to see these results. The growth in visitation is testament not only to our hard work, but most importantly to the exceptional support of the tourism industry in New Caledonia, which provides incredible accommodation, dining and activity offerings that attract Australian visitors.

“The 2019 results come alongside early figures for 2020 showing further growth in January and February year on year – 24.3 per cent and 23.9 per cent, respectively. While these are anomalous times, these figures show continued interest from the Australian market for New Caledonia, and we remain optimistic. We are here and we look forward to welcoming Australians to New Caledonia again soon,” Ms Hess said.

New Caledonia is one of Australia’s closest South Pacific neighbours and is home to a UNESCO World Heritage-listed lagoon, excellent food and wine, unique French and Melanesian cultures and diverse landscapes. It is less than two hours’ flight from Brisbane, under three from Sydney and less than four from Melbourne.
