Captain Cook Cruises Fiji has released the 2020 departure dates for its two Northern Fiji seven-night Discovery cruises – The 4 Cultures Discovery Cruise and Colonial Fiji Discovery Cruise, onboard small ship MV Reef Endeavour.

The 4 Cultures Discovery Cruise is the first ever Fiji cruise to circumnavigate Vanua Levu, Fiji’s second largest island and visits four distinctive Fijian cultures, Ellice Islanders (Polynesians), Banabans (Micronesia), Fijian and Indians.

Be taken on a cultural journey through an amazing show of song and dance by the Polynesian’s (Ellice Islanders) of Kioa Island and discover the home and history of the Banabans people on Rabi Island.

Spend a colourful morning at Labasa Town, home to a vast number of Fijian Indians. Be entertained by a Bollywood style dance troop (Indian), visit a Hindu snake temple and see the growing rock, shop along the main street and explore the aromas and produce of the market which sells a range of foods, spices, fish, poultry, goats and other local products.

Visit a local Fijian school and see the children’s classrooms and schoolwork and be entertained with an amazing cultural song and dance show.

Scheduled departure dates for the 4 Cultures Discovery Cruise include 7th January, 23rd May, 25th July and 21st November 2020 and 23rd January 2021.

The seven nights Colonial Fiji Discovery Cruise is an amazing cruise that reveals the unique history, art and culture of the Northern Fiji Islands.

The cruise visits the world heritage listed Levuka on the island of Ovalau featuring 19th Century colonial architecture and waterfront promenades from colonial rule.

At Makogai Island experience a traditional Fijian ceremony and walking tour of the historic site of Makogai leper colony. Then see the giant clams and turtles in the Ministry of Fisheries nursery, before visiting a local primary school, for a song and dance performance from the children.

Explore Savusavu and choose from a selection of optional tours including a visit to the hot springs, pearl farm and thriving markets.

At Taveuni Island have the ultimate experience of standing on the 180th Meridian, the arbitrary dateline between today and tomorrow, visit Bouma Waterfall National Park for a chance to view or hike a series of natural waterfalls and swim in the picturesque Tavoro Falls. Experience village life at Naselesele Village and partake in a kava ceremony, enjoy a traditional ‘lovo” (earth oven) feast and dance to the drum of the meke (dance).

2020 departure dates for the Colonial Fiji Discovery Cruise include 4th February, 25th April, 20th June, 22nd August, and 19th December.

Both cruises experience the underwater world with daily swimming, glass bottom boating and snorkelling off picturesque islands and in beautiful lagoons. Mind blowing scuba diving is operated by Viti Water Sports, a PADI5 Star Dive Centre located onboard Reef Endeavour and offering up to two dives daily in different locations.
