Botanica World Discoveries is pleased to announce the addition of a Lord Howe Island tour to its ever-growing domestic touring portfolio.

The 8-day small group tour departs Sydney on 18 April 2021 and is priced from $6,795 per person, twin share, and includes return airfares from Sydney to Lord Howe Island, all meals, sightseeing and 7 nights’ accommodation at the Leanda Lei Apartments, or the opportunity to upgrade to the Arajilla Retreat. For people travelling solo, the starting price for the 8-day tour is from $9,095.

The tour will be hosted by botanical guide and Lord Howe Island expert, Dr Ian Hutton, OAM. Author, photographer and naturalist, Hutton has lived on the Island for more than 40 years and will share his expansive local knowledge of the island’s biodiversity with its endemic plant species, diverse marine life and tropical climate.

Commenting on the Island location, Hutton said; “For me, living on Lord Howe Island is like living inside a David Attenborough documentary. Outside my front door is the island’s rainforest – alive with the calls of rare endemic birds.

“Through my observations, research and photography, I have been able to produce 10 books on the island, including five pocket guides to the flora and fauna, as well as a fern guide. I can’t wait to share it all with Botanica guests when they visit next year,” Hutton concluded.

In addition to writing numerous books, Hutton has also worked on a number of research projects about plants, birds, geology and climate change, plus has published numerous scientific papers.

Hutton will lead a maximum of 16 Botanica guests on a variety of nature walks each day of the tour and will also deliver four evening lectures covering the island’s history, ecology, endemic plants and conservation practices. Botanica encourages people with a high level of mobility to enjoy the wonderful sightseeing during walking tours.

Details of the trip can be found on the Botanica website – www.botanica.travel/btlhi8 and a second departure is being planned for October 2021.
