The world’s largest and newest sailing ship, Golden Horizon, will take modern-day seafarers from Sydney to Adelaide in January, 2022, and to extend the luxury adventure after the voyage, Australian small ship cruise specialist, Cruise Traveller, has launched a unique, five-star, stay and tour package in South Australia.

The exclusive new, 21-night ‘slow travel’ package combines a 16-night journey from Sydney to Adelaide via Tasmania aboard the five-masted Golden Horizon and a five-night stay in Adelaide with included tours of the city, Adelaide Hills, Hahndorf and the Barossa Valley.

Cruise Traveller is the exclusive Australian representative for new UK-based cruise line, Tradewind Voyages, which will debut the brand new Horizon this June and bring her to Australia next summer with her billowing sails, traditional nautical trimmings and gleaming wood and brass. Since the launch of Golden Horizon’s maiden Australian season in November, 2020, Cruise Traveller has received a rush of bookings from Australians captivated by romantic and unique voyages aboard the deluxe, 272-guest ship, which pairs rich sailing heritage and modern luxury with an eco twist – travelling under the sole power of wind for 70 per cent of the time, thanks to 6300 square metres of billowing sails.

Cruise Traveller’s ‘South Australian and Tasmanian Adventure’ starts in Sydney on January 6, 2022, when guests board Golden Horizon in Sydney for the historic maiden passage out of the harbour watched by thousands of spectators keen to see the spectacular sailaway. The 16-night voyage to Adelaide will take in 10 destinations in NSW, Tasmania, Victoria and South Australia – most of them small and remote islands and places rarely visited by larger ships, or any ships at all.

Destinations include the chalk-white, bush-lined beaches and aquamarine waters of Jervis Bay, Batemans Bay and Eden in NSW, pristine Darlington Bay on Maria Island in Tasmania, the historic convict settlement of Port Arthur and beautiful Hobart.  Golden Horizon’s sails will then power her to the rugged coastline, fresh seafood and gourmet produce of King Island in Bass Strait, the cultural capital of Melbourne, wildlife-rich Kangaroo Island and the picture-perfect coastal hamlet of Victor Harbour in SA. The voyage ends in Adelaide.

A five-night stay in a five-star Adelaide hotel with daily breakfast follows with a full day tour to the Adelaide Hills and Hahndorf including a German-style lunch, another full day tour to the wineries of the Barossa Valley including lunch and a morning tour of the Adelaide Central Markets with tastings of seasonal produce. A transfer to Adelaide Airport ends the memorable holiday.

The 21-night package is available from A$11,995 per person, twin-share, including beer and wine with lunch and dinner aboard the ship, onboard gratuities and use of the ship’s extensive water sports equipment including water skis, pico sailboats, kayaks, windsurfers, stand up paddle boards, snorkelling gear and a floating island and trampoline for fun in the water off the ship’s marina platform.

Graceful, spacious and traditional in style, Golden Horizon is a modern, luxurious and eco-friendly sailing ship offering a relaxed but elegant ambience, fine cuisine restaurant, three pools, gym, library, spa sanctuary, four bars and a marina platform. All 140 cabins will offer ocean vistas.
