Princess Cruises’ Diamond Princess has undergone an extensive 14-day, multimillion-dollar dry dock in Singapore as part of a $450 million investment across the Princess fleet, supporting the line’s Come Back New Promise.
Australians aboard the 2670-guest Diamond Princess can expect to enjoy a number of new upgrades across the ship’s entertainment, spa and wellness, and food and dining offerings, including:
- Entertainment Upgrades – Movies Under the Stars has been reimagined, with guests now able to enjoy an updated 7.1 surround sound digital audio – and, Pool Deck LED lighting enhancements. The upgrades will see a more vibrant, colourful entertainment experience for everything from movies to sporting events and concerts on the Sun Deck.
- Lotus Spa & Fitness Centre – Diamond Princess’ ultimate relaxation zone, the Lotus Spa has been reinvigorated with upgrades to salon and treatment rooms while the Fitness Centre now offers the latest in Precor fitness equipment.

The refurbishments are complete ahead of Princess Cruises’ recent announcement that, following 2019, its 2020 season will be the longest Japan season yet – one which will see Diamond Princess visit Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and Russia – counting 44 itineraries and 41 destinations across the four countries.
While docked in Singapore, Diamond Princess also received upgrades to its digital audio system for the Princess Theatre, Explorers Lounge and Club Fusion, and new furnishings in the Horizon Court. In recent months, Diamond Princess also received these product enhancements:
- The Princess Luxury Bed – now available in every stateroom aboard Diamond Princess, the Princess Luxury Bed was developed for the liner by sleep expert Dr Michael Breus.
- A New Wine List – offering more wine-making regions, varietals and blends than ever before, a total of 142 wines from around the world were curated in partnership with American Master of Wine and Master Sommelier Doug Frost, who is one of only four people in the world to hold both titles. In addition to the new wine menu, six new beverage menus will also be rolled out at The Sanctuary, Pool Deck, Wheelhouse, Crooners, and Explorers Lounge throughout 2019 onboard Diamond Princess.
Following the dry dock in Singapore, Diamond Princess will embark on a 12-night return sailing from Yokohama – featuring visits to Hong Kong, Taipei, Osaka and Shimizu (Mount Fuji) – before commencing her 2019 Japan cruise season, which features 60 departures on 40 unique itineraries, visiting 41 destinations in seven countries.
Built in Japan, Diamond Princess features the Izumi Bath, the largest open-air Japanese bath at sea – a 181 sq. metre bath and garden complex, offering indoor and outdoor Japanese bathing experiences including steam rooms, saunas and hot tubs with spectacular ocean vistas. The ship also boasts Japanese offerings such as Kai Sushi, an authentic sushi bar, and traditional music and entertainment.
Fares for a 16-night cruise onboard Diamond Princess to the Southern Islands and Hokkaido sailing roundtrip from Yokohama departing 11 July 2019 start from $2,349 per person twin share.*
