Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) is today taking part in Wear it Purple Day – a day dedicated to celebrating young people of diverse sexes, sexualities and gender identities – with activities being held at its regional headquarters in Sydney.

“The NCLH team are today proudly ablaze with purple to celebrate Wear it Purple Day’s 2019 theme of ‘Stand Up. Stand Out’ for which we are banding together to show our support for the LGBTIQ youth community. Today serves as an important reminder that we all have a right to be proud of who we are without being subject to stigma or discrimination,” said Mr Steve Odell, Senior Vice President and Managing Director Asia Pacific at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings.

“NCLH was one of the first cruise companies to actively promote its support for the Australian Marriage Equality YES Campaign – I am proud to be part of a company that supports my passion for championing diversity and equality in the workplace and beyond.”

“As we move into 2020 and what is such as exciting time for the cruise industry, it is so important to be promoting workplaces that foster inclusion, respect, equality and diversity by proactively showing that we are supportive of rainbow young people, in addition to anyone looking to be part of this exciting industry,” adds Mr. Odell.

Wear it Purple is a youth-run organisation that exists to support young people who identify as sexually and gender diverse (rainbow). Wear it Purple’s mission is to celebrate awareness of the challenges facing rainbow young people and create environments that are safe, supportive and inclusive.

NCLH is encouraging employees to bring a gold coin donation for this important cause, with the company matching any contribution made by its team on the day.
