The 1st Annual Yosemite Peace Symposium will bring together peacemakers from around the country to educate, motivate and activate attendees. The Symposium will take place October 26 and 27, 2018 at beautiful Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite, just outside the southern entrance to Yosemite National Park.

The Symposium is two days of motivating general sessions, including a screening of the documentary on the forced incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II, And Then They Came for Us. The film features George Takei and many others who were incarcerated and will be followed by a panel discussion. The opening general session with Christine Stevens of UpBeat Drum Circles, is lively, interactive, energizing and will set the beat for the Symposium. During Saturday’s lunch you will be inspired by a talk from lifelong peace activist and author, David Hartsough entitled “Waging Peace: Global Adventures of a Lifelong Activist”.

Breakout sessions will be divided into three tracks: Peace and the Environment, Peace and Our Youth, and Peace and Human Dignity. Sessions include presentations on Human Trafficking, “Disability is Diversity” and an interactive session on how to put a tangible reminder of peace in every school by planting a Peace Pole. You’ll find a listing of all the sessions on the website.

“We want to create an event that helps you implement a plan for peace in your own community,” says Susan Madden, Yosemite Peace Symposium Planning Committee Chair. “So we are including an interactive, facilitated planning session we call ‘Peacemaking, Mission: Possible!’”
