NSW STARS IN NEW CHANNEL 10 SERIES – “THREE BLUE DUCKS”

The trio of chefs behind Australia’s renowned Three Blue Ducks restaurants, Andy Allen, Darren Robertson and Mark Labrooy, have been road tripping across New South Wales in the name of menu research.

The “Ducks” star in a new food series set to air on Channel 10 from February 13, which follows the restaurateurs as they visit some of the state’s foodie hotspots meeting local producers, sampling local produce and developing new recipes for their restaurant menus in Sydney (Bronte and Rosebery), Byron Bay and at Nimbo Fork Lodge in Tumut.

The Ducks’ mission sees them lobster fishing in Andy’s hometown of Shoal Bay, mustering lamb in Tullamore, abalone diving in Eden, discovering a Vietnamese marketplace in Cabramatta and fly fishing in Tumut.

NSW Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said: “Visitors have always enjoyed exploring the rich food culture of our state, from Byron Bay to the Barrington Coast, from the Snowy Mountains to Sydney.

“So it’s no surprise that the Three Blue Ducks team has not only established their flagship restaurants here in NSW, but also that the state features in most of the culinary adventures in their inaugural TV series,” Minister Ayres said.

Co-head chef and MasterChef Australia Judge Andy Allen, said he was thrilled to hit the road with two of his best mates and proud to show them around his hometown on New South Wales’ Mid North Coast.

“I grew up in the Port Stephens region of NSW, and am passionate about the quality, depth and diversity of produce on offer. Daz, Mark and I all have different connections to parts of NSW so being able to jump in the car and meet so many amazing local producers from all corners of the state, has been an incredible experience.”

“Now more than ever, it’s a great time to get out and explore your own backyard and for me that starts in New South Wales. I urge everyone to experience it for themselves and make the connection we have over the last few weeks – you can’t get more paddock or sea to plate than this,” said Allen.

Among the New South Wales producers and tourism operators featured across the series are:

Mackas Australian Black Angus Beef, Gloucester: Black Angus Beef producer established in 1884 which uses sustainable farming practices and world-best genetics to breed quality, grass-fed and export certified beef.

Outback Lamb and Farm Tours, Tullamore: A family-run farm producing single origin, ethically grown, pastured lamb. Visitors can enjoy a farm tour which includes a sheep dog trial, camp drafting, Indigenous carvings and local produce lunch.

Dive Eden, Sapphire Coast: Learn to scuba and free dive or take a guided diving or snorkelling tour in the pristine waters of the Sapphire Coast. Boat dives are also available for all skill levels.
Trundle Hotel, Trundle: Located 55kms north-west of Parkes in Central NSW, the iconic Trundle Hotel opened in 1888 and is National Estate listed. The hotel boasts the longest veranda in NSW at 87.6m on the widest street in NSW (60m).

Brunswick Buccaneers, Brunswick Heads: Rent a SUP, kayak, canoe, paddle board, motor boat or BBQ boat and enjoy the beauty of the Brunswick River in Northern NSW.

Three Blue Ducks Rosebery, Bronte, Byron Bay & Nimbo Fork Lodge: Dine on fresh, local produce at one of the award-winning Three Blue Ducks restaurants where the focus is on showcasing ethical and authentic food prepared with love.

Three Blue Ducks premieres on Channel 10 at 7pm on Saturday 13 February, with five episodes featuring NSW to be broadcast to Saturday 20 March.
