The Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government (TPE-DOIT) attended the just concluded IMEX Frankfurt in Germany, the world’s most important MICE trade fair. The Taipei presentation drew the most attention from among the Taiwan promotion team, generating a total of 32 negotiation invitations over the course of the 3-day exhibition. Its team will now travel to Paris to take part in a MICE promotion event being held there. The quest is to shine a spotlight on the city of Taipei in the European market.

To ensure that buyers entering into discussions obtained comprehensive understanding, TPE-DOIT utilized a one-stop service model, inviting representatives from Taipei City MICE management companies, hotels, and travel enterprises to join the team and provide buyers with firsthand information, thereby presenting the most complete product. Post-exhibition screening will now be conducted to determine which prospective Taipei-held events possess the greatest potential, with representatives invited to visit Taipei to move matters forward, airline tickets sponsored by EVA Air.

The latest statistics released in May by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) show that the city of Taipei played host to 100 international association meetings in 2018. This was a new high for a single calendar year, besting the 76 gatherings recorded in 2017 by over 30 percent. Taipei moved up from 7th to 6th in Asian city rankings for international meetings, and moved up from 26th to 20th globally. The city offers comprehensive infrastructure and a rich diversity of tourism resources, and the new Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 2, completed this year, adds further to its strength as a MICE city and to its position as a key Asia MICE destination.
